Staff Accountant

Staff AccountantNakupuna Companies is looking for an entry level Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant is responsible for working with the Senior Accountant/Accounting Manager to help maintain a sound accounting system, to include preparation of basic accounting reconciliations, Accounts Payable entries, billing creation, and timesheet processing.ResponsibilitiesThe following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign additional duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.Determines operational objectives by studying business functions, collecting and evaluating information, and assessing potential solutionsPrepares basic journal entries and account reconciliations and submits to Accounting Manager for reviewAssists the Finance & Accounting team with transactional functions as necessary, including, but not limited to:Accounts Payable voucher entry and employee expense reportsBilling invoice processing, including Internal Work Orders (IWO)Assists Senior Accountant in new employee setup and related data maintenance, including paid time off accruals, labor posting, etcRecommends controls by identifying problems and developing improved proceduresCreates and maintains job aides for various Finance & Accounting functions that can be used for training of future team membersMaintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidentialPrepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trendsContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededInputs transactional activity for Joint Ventures in QuickBooksComplete ad hoc/other requests as necessaryQualifications Skills/Qualifications: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Word, Excel, Outlook, and on-line search engines required. Must be self-motivated, efficient at multi-tasking and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Familiarity with Government Contracting, Deltek Costpoint, and Intuit QuickBooks is preferred. Must be a U.S. citizen. Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or similar discipline from an accredited institution required.1-2 years working experience in an accounting environment is preferred.Experience in or work for the U.S. military is highly desirable.
