Position Description Our athletics department is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Athletic Trainer to lead and coordinate all aspects of athletic training and student support. This role is essential to promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our student-athletes across all programs. Working in close partnership with the Athletic Director and coaching staff, the Athletic Trainer will oversee medical coverage for all on-campus athletic events, provide evaluation and treatment of injuries, and offer informed recommendations to support student care and recovery. This individual will also collaborate with school leadership to ensure a comprehensive, thoughtful approach to student wellness at every level. The Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Athletic Director and plays a vital role in fostering a safe, supportive, and high-quality athletic experience for every student. This is a 10 month role. Hours will be 10am – 6pm Monday through Friday with weekend, holiday and summer work which will be additionally compensated and pre-determined in partnership with the Athletic Director. Job Responsibilities The Athletic Trainer plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and success of our student-athletes by overseeing all aspects of injury prevention, care, and rehabilitation. This includes providing on-site medical coverage for practices and competitions, delivering timely evaluation and treatment, and guiding students safely back to play. In close collaboration with the Athletic Director, coaches, team physicians, and families, the Athletic Trainer serves as a trusted resource and communicator, ensuring each student receives thoughtful, individualized care. The role also emphasizes proactive wellness through education on injury prevention, conditioning, and overall athlete health. Beyond direct care, the Athletic Trainer maintains accurate medical records, manages training room operations and supplies, and partners with school nurses, counselors, and administrators to support the whole student—physically, mentally, and emotionally. This position also contributes to a positive, student-centered environment, engages in ongoing professional learning, and helps advance school-wide initiatives that promote safety, well-being, and a strong sense of community. The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree in Athletic Training, is certified by the BOC, and is licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the state, with three to five years of experience in a school setting. They bring strong communication skills—both written and verbal—and demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment, along with excellent organization, time management, and follow-through. A collaborative mindset is essential, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse community of students, families, and colleagues. The candidate should also have a solid foundation in first aid and injury care, and the ability to communicate clearly and proactively to ensure alignment, compliance, and the successful delivery of the school’s mission. At St. Paul’s Schools, we are dedicated to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every individual is celebrated for their unique strengths and contributions. We believe that diversity enriches education, empowering students to reach their fullest potential. By embracing a culture of inclusion, we prepare our students to succeed in an increasingly interconnected and multicultural world. We stand firmly against all forms of prejudice, including those related to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic background, gender identity, sexual orientation, and physical appearance. The St. Paul’s Schools has a compensation scale based on direct years of experience and degree held. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s years of experience, education and skills. For this opportunity, our salary range is $55,000 to $65,000 annually. Candidates with additional experience or qualifications may be offered a salary outside of the range shown. In addition, full-time team members gain access to our robust benefits package designed to support your well-being, inside and outside of work. This includes a competitive healthcare package (medical, dental, and vision), disability protection, participation in our 403(b) retirement plan which has an immediate employer contribution and a generous time off package, including wellness days because we believe you may need a day off ‘just because!’. Beyond the basics, we offer extras like a lunch stipend, access to multiple fitness centers on campus and professional development experiences to continue your learning. In addition, full-time employees who choose The St. Paul’s Schools for their children’s educational journey, are eligible to receive a tuition remission benefit. Your salary will be commensurate with your experience and reflect the value you bring to our team.
