Pastry Cook

She Wolf Bakery is seeking a full time, seasonal (September - December) pastry cook for our Brooklyn Navy Yard location. Our pastry program is based on using local, stone-milled whole grains, seasonal local produce, and New York state dairy and eggs.

This is a full time (40 hour/week) position; we offer regular schedules, but not permanent ones, so flexibility is required. The starting rate of pay for this position is $19/hr. After a 90-day introductory period, all employees receive a review of their performance and rate of pay.

Key responsibilities include:

• Pastry production and bake off
• Daily ingredient/stock management
• Maintain a clean kitchen and equipment
• Contribute to a highly cooperative and positive work environment, supporting others in successes and setbacks

Successful candidates will:

• Have 1+ years of professional cooking experience with solid production skills. (Experience in a kitchen is preferred, but we are willing to train someone with strong organizational skills and a sense of urgency.)
• Bring detail and care to their work while multi-tasking in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
• Display keen attention to detail and spatial awareness
• Be reliable, focused, organized, communicative, and curious
• Have a receptive and charitable attitude toward constructive feedback

While performing the duties of the job, a pastry & prepared foods cook is regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. They must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
