Acute Med/Surg Registered Nurse - Part Time (2x12s) Shift Details

• Part Time - 2x12-hour shifts per week
• Day/night variable shift (scheduled as needed)
• Rotational Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Holiday coverage required
• All contracts must end in February/March

Required Licenses & Certifications

• NYS RN Licensure - Required
• BLS - Required
• ACLS - Required

Required Experience

• Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Med/Surg environment

Position Overview

• The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality, compassionate care to patients and families
• Assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode
• Develops specialized skill in the area of cardiac care, including telemetry monitoring
• Accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing
• Promotes comfort and provides emotional support in a healing environment

Nursing Knowledge & Care Delivery

• Assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data obtained through direct observation, technology, or health team communication
• Creates a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of identified health problems
• In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and health care team members, sets goals and monitors patient progress
• Adjusts the plan of care based on patient response or change in condition and reprioritization of needs
• Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient
• Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
• Uses results of Quality Improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and to influence care delivery
