Job Summary

We’re seeking an inspiring, hands‑on Assistant Director / Chef to support the culinary experience for a program serving 2,800+ students across six schools in Gainesville ISD, TX. This role is ideal for a creative culinarian who enjoys being active in the kitchen while partnering closely with our Director of Dining Services, who is also a chef. You’ll report directly to the Director and have the opportunity to learn and grow by working alongside them day-to-day, while taking the lead on key culinary initiatives, supporting a team of 32 associates, and helping execute approximately 6–7 catering events each month.

This opportunity also offers an excellent work-life balance, with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, with only very limited needs outside those hours based on the business. Key Responsibilities:

• Helps to plans regular and modified menus according to established guidelines
• Trains staff in food preparation, safe handling, and operation of equipment, food safety and sanitation based on Company and regulatory standards
• Establishes and maintains cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage and work areas
• Maintains inventory of food and non-food supplies to stay within established guidelines while assuring that necessary product is available when needed
• Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• A.S. or equivalent experience preferred
• Three+ years of progressive management/culinary/kitchen experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
• Experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point), Outlook, E-mail and the Internet
• Catering experience a plus!
• High volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable
• ServSafe certified – highly desirable
