Since 1985, BHCHP’s mission has been to provide or assure access to the highest quality health care for all individuals and families experiencing homelessness in greater Boston. We care for over 11,000 homeless individuals each year and ensure that every one of these individuals can receive comprehensive health care, which includes primary care, behavioral health, medical respite, dental, case management, and more. Our staff work in 30+ locations across the city to serve some of our community's most vulnerable—and most resilient—citizens.

Summary of Position : Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, a 655-employee healthcare organization in the Boston area, seeks an energetic, organized and highly skilled Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team. 

Serving as part of a 5-person Human Resources team, the HRBP provides front-line, professional assistance in all aspects of human resources. The HRBP plays a key role in supporting an assigned portfolio of managers, focusing on developing their management skills as well as providing support on employee relations, labor relations matters and staffing. This role builds strong partnerships across the organization to deliver valuable support that advances departmental and organizational goals. The HRBP also maintains a solid understanding of the business unit’s operations, strategic priorities, and culture to ensure HR strategies are effectively tailored and impactful.

Hours: Full-time 40 hours, Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 5pm

Primary Duties:

• Serves as primary HRBP for a designated portfolio, with responsibility for employee relations workplace investigations, and general HR consultation. Works with HR Director to support managers on labor relations matters.

• Provides day-to-day support to managers and employees within the assigned portfolio, including guidance on policies, procedures, and HR programs.

• Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (coaching, counseling/advising, career development, disciplinary actions).

• Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Understands the importance of being a neutral partner.

• Prepares employment offer letters, determines compensation, establishes start dates and ensures timely communication with new hires, managers, occupational health, credentialing and IT to ensure a smooth onboarding process.

• Works closely with the HR Operations, Benefits and Leaves Manager to manage HR programs and maintain a solid understanding of benefits, leaves, operations, recruitment, and performance management procedures.

• Develop HR solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.

• Improves manager and employee experience by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solutions; coaching and advising managers and employees.

• Completes special projects assigned by establishing timelines and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information and executing tasks to project completion.

• Meets with exiting employees; conduct exit meetings and interviews. Prepare separation letters and packets as required.

• Works with the Safety and Security team when it comes to safety incidents that involve the workforce. Ensure resources are provided and follow-up with manager and employees to ensure satisfactory resolution.

• Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by maintaining active knowledge of existing and new legislation; supporting department and organizational adherence and enforcement of requirements; advising management on needed actions.

• Maintains current job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations and obtaining/maintaining professional certification under SHRM or HRCI.

• Protects department and organizational integrity by keeping information confidential.

• Attend and actively participate in HR team meetings, management team meetings and other team meetings when required.

• Understand and interpret SEIU1199 CBA; participate in the grievance process, attend Labor/Management Meetings when required.

• Perform duties in accordance with organizations’ policies and procedures; and SEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement.

• Ensures timely filing of Worker’s Compensation incidents, reporting and follow-up, serves as the primary point of contact for staff and managers around workers compensation, in the absence of the HR Operations Manager

• Maintains appropriate record for documenting employee ADA accommodations and safety protocols

• Follows HR department procedures for maintaining accurate employee files, occupational health compliance, background checks, and references for onboarding staff.

• Assist in BHCHP’s workplace safety program through a review of accidents in the workplace including making recommendations on safety standards and improvements to the safety program.

• Manages and keeps up to date with onboarding processes to respond to new hire and manager questions; enroll new hires in HRIS system and manages HRIS requests for password resets, timecard approval and other employee/ manager requests.

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field, and/or a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources, at least 2 years’ experience with Employee Relations & Internal Investigations.

• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred; HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or HRCI Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Must obtain certification within 1 year of being hired into this role.

• Understanding of and experience in the practical application of the HR competencies, Federal and State law, and the ethics involved in assigned duties. 

• Experience in health care, community health or other 24/7 environments a plus.

• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and discretion

• Excellent customer service, communication and listening skills

• Able to work effectively with all levels of staff

• Strong computer skills required; experience with ADP software preferred.

• Ability to consistently provide exceptional customer service and meet performance expectations.

Benefits:

• Compensation range is $68,460 – $90,052 actual salary offer will be commensurate with the candidate’s relevant years of experience and qualifications.
