Mechanical Test Technician

It's based in California with the occasional trip up to San Francisco for training and minimal test support. We are looking for a qualified technician to run a variety of laboratory experiments, complete technical procedures, compile data, build and assemble electro‑mechanical prototypes. You will be handling sensitive equipment to test and analyze samples. Support the various lab duties and technical test measurements and prototype needs. The Role Reporting to the Reliability Engineering Lab Manager, the Test Technician will perform lab and test work supporting the research team, test and EE/ME lab activities. Responsibilities Prepare test plan and samples for testing Carefully enter data for analyses Report data to engineering team Follow detailed experimental protocols Organize, store, and safely handle all chemical substances Safely operate laboratory equipment according to written instructions Follow all safety guidelines while maintaining a clean work environment Manage and maintain all pieces of testing equipment Proficient using general test lab equipment, such as test chambers, mechanical cycling stations and data acquisition systems Proficient using general engineering and mechanical hand tools, and light machine shop tools Ability to perform basic tasks such as soldering, light fabrication of electrical and/or mechanical test systems and rework/repair of existing systems Work with engineers on design and assembly of prototypes Requirements Skills and Experience Required 3–5 years of previous experience as a laboratory technician or equivalent 3–5 years of experience in using machine tools for hardware prototyping Experience with electro‑mechanical designs Capable of reading an electrical schematic, wiring diagrams, and mechanical CAD models Strong organization skills and ability to keep track of complex data Ideal candidate would have experience with MS Excel, Google Sheets, database systems, SolidWorks, and ability to learn software languages Ability to work autonomously and have excellent collaboration skills Education 2–4 year degree in a related scientific field, or equivalent work experience Benefits We offer healthcare plans, which you may opt into at your own expense.
