Lift Mechanic/Journeyman Millwright

At Silver Star Mountain Resort, the Journeyman Millwright / Lift Mechanic is a critical technical role responsible for the safety, reliability, and maintenance of the resort’s uphill transportation systems. This position combines heavy industrial mechanical work with the unique challenges of working in a high-alpine environment. Core Responsibilities The primary focus is ensuring all lifts (gondolas, chairlifts, conveyors, and T-bars) operate in compliance with CSA Z98 — the safety code for passenger ropeways. Preventative Maintenance Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections on lift components Inspect and maintain sheave trains, bullwheels, gearboxes, and grip assemblies Diagnose mechanical or hydraulic faults quickly to minimize downtime during operational hours Heavy Rigging Use cranes, jacks, and rigging equipment to move heavy components and perform wire rope maintenance Hydraulic Systems Maintain and repair tensioning systems and hydraulic brakes Emergency Response Participate in line evacuations and provide technical support for bypass operations if a primary drive fails Documentation Maintain detailed maintenance logs to satisfy provincial safety regulators including Technical Safety BC Job Requirements & Qualifications Valid Journeyman Millwright Red Seal Industrial Mechanic certification 3rd or 4th year apprentices will also be considered Comfortable working at heights and climbing lift towers (typically 30–70 feet) while using fall protection equipment Ability to work in extreme cold, wind, and snow conditions #J-18808-Ljbffr SilverStar Ski Resort Ltd.
