ARE YOU LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO GROW YOUR CAREER?
TOTAL Industries is a great place to call home. As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you’ll be part of our TOTAL JCB team focused on the diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy equipment, including but not limited to repairing/replacing hydraulic components, diesel engines, and electrical motors on construction and agricultural equipment. The following reflects the essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.WHAT IS THE JOB OF A HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC?
Since we hire mechanics based on level of experience (I, II, III, Journeyman), you may come in as a Shop Mechanic, reporting to a branch location every day with an assigned bay, or as a Road Mechanic where you start in our Shop then progress to an assigned territory based on your learning plan and experience, or as a Fleet Mechanic, where you are dedicated to a large customer with one or a few locations. We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment, including but not limited to repairing/replacing hydraulic components, diesel engines, and electrical motors on construction and agricultural equipment, along with working on and operating a crane including rigging of heavy components. This is a Level III technician role, meaning you'll need to have 7-10 years of experience repairing and servicing this type of equipment, and a willingness to continue learning. Your day-to-day activities will be determined by your Service Advisor, who will assign you 8 hours of work. Some days will start at the Parts Counter loading up what you need for your assigned work orders, others will be heading to handle a repair close to home, or across town. We’ll expect you to perform all your duties safely and efficiently, of course. Also, we expect you to have good written, verbal, and organizational skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and your colleagues.WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you’ll become a union member with Automotive Industries. Depending on your location, the company will pay 95%-100% of healthcare benefits for you and your family, including: Anthem Blue Cross or Kaiser PPO. Delta Dental plus orthodontics. VSP Vision. Life Insurance and Burial benefits. Supplemental short-term disability income. We’re also proud to offer: Auto-enrollment in the Union Pension where available and access to a 401K. Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through Uprise. Annual reimbursement for work boots and prescription safety glasses.HOW MUCH DOES A MECHANIC MAKE?
The specific rate offered will be determined by relevant work experience, education and assigned location. In addition, you’ll be eligible for a pay increase every 6 months, upon completion of training and demonstration of skills as you make your way to journeyman status, and the top wage rate.
