Job Summary: The System Administrator VI serves as a senior technical expert and Enterprise Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME), responsible for the architecture, resilience, operation, and long-term strategy of enterprise systems supporting a shared services data center environment. This role provides advanced Tier II/III support, leads complex projects, and partners directly with federal stakeholders to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable IT operations. Education Associate's Degree, technical training certificate, or a combination of education and equivalent professional experience. Experience Required 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise system administration. Minimum 6 years of hands-on technical experience supporting enterprise IT environments at the server and data center level. Federal enterprise IT experience preferred. Core Responsibilities Act as Enterprise Systems SME, providing technical leadership for architecture, resilience, and long-term system strategy. Support and maintain enterprise systems, including: Backup and recovery operations for the Data Operations Center (DOC) System patching, performance tuning, and resource optimization Hardware and software upgrades Operational configuration and troubleshooting Provide Tier II and Tier III support, mentoring and supporting lower-tier teams. Architect and approve enterprise system designs, standards, and configurations. Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution. Serve as technical lead for shared services enterprise datacenter IT projects. Interface directly with Contracting Officer's Representatives (CORs) and Office of Information Technology (OIT) leadership. Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and operational best practices. Lead and manage complex technical initiatives, including documentation, timelines, and deliverables. Support data center physical infrastructure and security systems. Technical Skills & Knowledge Strong expertise in Microsoft and Linux operating systems. Experience with VMware virtualization platforms. Knowledge of Microsoft enterprise management tools. Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools. Experience with industry-standard data center physical security tools and applications. Working knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as: PowerShell Visual Basic .NET C# Other relevant scripting languages Professional Skills Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and resolve highly complex technical issues. Proven ability to lead projects and technical teams. Strong written, verbal, and presentation-based interdepartmental communication skills. Experience developing project management and technical documentation. Strategic mindset with the ability to align technical solutions to enterprise and mission needs.
