Claims Manager

Risk and Claims Management - expanding our team! A specialized risk management brokerage and safety consulting firm is in search of a claims professional with experience to oversee active claims for clients. This role involves managing and monitoring the activities of third-party administrators and ensuring the proper handling of claims until they are settled and closed. The position serves as the primary advocate for general liability claims, facilitating relationships among the employer, insurance provider, and defense counsel for ongoing claims. The candidate will review and supervise the work of insurance adjusters on general liability claims, focusing on the quality of investigations, accuracy of reserves, litigation strategies, and settlement authority. The individual will analyze general liability claims to evaluate coverage, liability, and potential damages. Responsibilities also include coordinating vendor referrals for investigations, surveillance, expert engagement, and litigation management. The position requires tracking and reporting on the adequacy of reserves, claim trends, and loss developments related to the client's general liability portfolios. The claims professional will prepare summaries for clients and offer strategic recommendations for individual cases. They will identify opportunities for subrogation and recovery, including claims for contributions and the enforcement of contractual indemnification. Collaboration with the workers' compensation team will be necessary to address overlapping exposures. The role includes participating in the development of standard operating procedures for managing general liability claims. Requirements: Applicants should have one to three years of experience in handling general liability or bodily injury claims, whether on the insurance carrier, TPA, brokerage, or self-insured employer side. A solid grasp of liability analysis, damage evaluation, and reserve setting is essential. Strong skills in written and verbal communication are required as the candidate will be responsible for drafting claim summaries, client reports, and regular correspondence with adjusters. The candidate must be capable of working autonomously with minimal oversight in a small firm setting and should be comfortable with client interaction from the outset. Experience with general liability claims related to construction, including premises liability, construction defects, and Labor Law, is highly regarded. Familiarity with New York Labor Laws 200/240/241(6) (Scaffold Law) is also preferred. Experience with OCIP/CCIP wrap-up programs, disputes involving additional insureds, or scenarios involving subcontractor defaults is valuable. Multi-state claims experience across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Nevada is advantageous. A bachelor's degree or relevant professional designations such as AIC, CPCU, or ARM are required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
