Mechanical Engineer

CITEL is hiring an experienced Mechanical Engineer to add to our growing R&D team at its new Hillsborough, NC facility. This role will play a key part in hands-on design work as well as cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, testing, and global R&D teams. This is a senior, individual-contributor role with opportunities to influence architecture, process and technical direction as the US R&D organization continues to grow. The successful candidate will also be expected to be a strong mentor within the engineering group. Key Responsibilities Design and develop mechanical components and enclosures for electrical products Create and maintain 3D models and mechanical drawings using SolidWorks Develop designs for wire routing, cable assemblies, and internal mechanical layouts Support prototype development, testing, and product validation Work closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper mechanical integration of electronic components Collaborate with manufacturing to support design for manufacturability (DFM) Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation Support product improvements and engineering changes as required Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience, preferably in electromechanical or enclosure design Experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software Experience designing mechanical enclosures or electromechanical assemblies Familiarity with cable routing and cable assembly documentation Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals and manufacturing processes Preferred Qualifications Experience designing enclosures for electrical or electronic products Familiarity with sheet metal design and fabrication Experience with plastic components or injection molding Experience supporting products from development through production Experience supporting products from development through production Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy Hands-on and comfortable working with prototypes and hardware Collaborative and able to work across engineering and manufacturing teams Why Join Us?
