Site North Shore Medical Center, Inc. Job Summary The Registered Nurse manages all aspects of the nursing process and the delivery of patient and family centered care. The role includes 1 eight‑hour shift and 2 twelve‑hour shifts. The RN has the responsibility and authority to request and use governing and administrative resources, technological and support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts necessary to manage and deliver quality, cost‑effective patient care. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (required); bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred. No experience in lieu of a degree is accepted. Licenses and Credentials Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required. Certifications BLS required; ACLS preferred. Current CRNI certification (obtained from the INCC) or VA‑BC certification (obtained from the VACC) preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary for care appropriate to the patient age in the assigned department. All IV therapy registered nurses must maintain the required core IV therapy skills/competencies: Peripheral IV insertion. CVAD dressing change. Non‑tunneled CVAD removal. Reconstitution, instillation and removal of thrombolytic. Access/de‑access implanted ports. Repositioning a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC). Day‑shift IV therapy RNs must also maintain core PICC RN skills/competencies: Ultrasound‑guided PICC insertion. ECG‑guided tip confirmation. Catheter exchange (PICCs only).
