Precision Quality Inspector - Aerospace Components

B&A Precision

Job Description

Job Description

Step into a day on our Quality team

As a Precision Quality Inspector, your morning might start at receiving, where you verify incoming aerospace components with micrometers and calipers on a surface plate. Before lunch, you’re on the production floor, running in-process checks with height gages, indicators, thread and plug gages, and an optical comparator. In the afternoon, you wrap up a CMM routine for a final inspection and complete a First Article Inspection (FAI) to Quality Management System (QMS) and customer specifications—then finish the day by backing up the day’s quality data.

How you’ll make an impact
  • Carry out mechanical and visual inspections at receiving, in-process, and final stages for a range of manufactured products.
  • Use precision tools and systems: micrometers, calipers, height gages/gauges, surface plates, optical comparators, air gaging, thread gages, plug gages, and CMMs.
  • Complete FAIs in alignment with QMS and customer requirements.
  • Create, organize, and maintain inspection documentation—both digital and handwritten—with full traceability.
  • Enter and manage inspection data to satisfy QMS data-gathering needs; perform daily backups of quality data.
  • Support calibration and upkeep of measurement devices per QP 7.6 and ISO 10012.
  • Assist during internal, customer, and third-party audits.
  • Partner with Project Engineers to disposition discrepant material.
  • Champion our Quality Policies and Objectives in every task.
What you bring
  • 3–5 years of hands-on inspection experience in aerospace or a similarly regulated precision-manufacturing environment.
  • Fluency in reading engineering drawings, specs, tolerances, and manufacturing travelers.
  • Comfort with analog and digital measurement tools: micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Basic working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Accuracy in documenting results and maintaining traceable quality records.
  • Basic computer skills and a meticulous, detail-focused mindset.

  • Precision Measurement & Hand Metrology
  • Aerospace Manufacturing
  • First Article Inspection (FAI)
