Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Registered Nurse (CVICU) provides high-acuity post-cardiothoracic care with a focus on immediate recovery after open heart surgery. This role requires readiness to manage fresh post-op patients, including day-zero assessments and interventions.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct bedside care for post-open heart surgery patients starting on post-op day zero
• Monitor hemodynamics, cardiac rhythm, vital signs, and key clinical parameters
• Assess, reassess, and document patient status, response to treatment, and clinical changes
• Administer medications and therapies according to provider orders and unit protocols
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to support safe transitions and continuity
• Maintain sterile technique and follow safety standards for invasive lines and procedures

Qualifications:

• Hold an active RN license and a BSN (required)
• Demonstrate prior CVICU or CTICU experience
• Show competency with post-cardiothoracic surgery day-zero clinical workflows
• Possess strong assessment skills for rapid changes in condition and hemodynamic status
• Communicate effectively with the care team and accurately document nursing care
• Maintain current certifications required for acute care practice
