Role Overview Under the direction of the Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor I (TSOS I), the Telecommunications Systems Technician III (TST III) responds to and resolves the most critical and complex public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The TST III provides technical guidance and support to one or more technicians and may act as area supervisor in their absence. Incumbents perform the full range of technician responsibilities required to ensure the continued operation of all public safety communication network/systems and equipment, requiring comprehensive knowledge of all public safety communication network/systems. Job Details Classification: Telecommunications Systems Technician III Salary: $7,738.00 - $10,218.00 per month (minimum for new to State candidates) Location: Inyo County Telework: In Office Job Type: Permanent, Full Time Work Week: Monday – Friday Number of Positions: 1 Shift: Regular hours Working Conditions The position is office-based and not a hybrid telework role. It requires traveling to and working in remote locations, high elevations, and inclement weather conditions. Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required, with a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Responsibilities Respond to and resolve critical and complex public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. Provide technical guidance and support to technicians; oversee and coordinate work activities within assigned geographic shop or microwave area. Maintain professional and team-centered environment, establishing effective working relationships. Use Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, Excel) for documentation. Operate under FCC rules and regulations, utilizing training, test equipment, computers, hand tools, and technical literature. Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. Minimum Requirements Telecommunications Systems Technician III – full knowledge and experience with public safety communication networks. Valid California Driver’s License (CDL). Background investigation clearance (Live Scan fingerprinting). Medical clearance prior to hire. Possession of FCC General Radiotelephone Operator’s License or industry-accepted equivalent (or reference license number).
