Human Resources Director

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this leader will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership while remaining accessible and engaged with employees across the organization. The Human Resources Director will lead all aspects of the HR function, developing and executing strategies that attract, retain, and develop top talent while aligning people initiatives with the organization's mission and business objectives. In addition to overseeing core human resources responsibilities, this role will champion a culture that fosters meaningful connections to the company's mission, purpose, and values. This is an opportunity for an HR leader who believes that a thriving workplace culture is fundamental to organizational success Responsibilities In coordination with the Senior Team, understands and identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for recruitment, hiring, and onboarding. Oversees retention, performance management, and well‑being for staff through development and ongoing implementation of constructive and timely performance evaluations; leadership of performance management, discipline, and terminations in accordance with company policy; and coordination of appropriate support for employees’ effectiveness, growth, and well‑being. Plans, leads, and coordinates professional development and training opportunities for staff to support productivity, occupational health and safety, career growth, recognition, and morale. Oversees the administration of the human resource program, including, but not limited to: compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; and investigations, complaints, and disputes. Monitors and ensures the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulatory changes, modern technologies, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance. Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends, surveys organizational compliance, and stays abreast of developments in the field, applying this knowledge to amend and communicate needed changes in policy, practice, and resources. Develops and implements departmental budget. Performs other duties as required. Ideal Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; master's degree preferred. At least five years of human resource management experience required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred. Experience in a manufacturing workplace or another hourly shift employee workplace highly preferred. Spanish language proficiency highly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of diverse Chicago communities, particularly low‑income African American communities. Ability to address issues of historically unemployed and under‑employed populations and create solutions. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization abilities with exceptional attention to detail. Proven analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Adaptable and responsive to the evolving needs of the organization and its employees. Thorough knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices. Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with, or able to quickly learn, HRIS and talent management systems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
