Summit Academy North is currently seeking a positive, creative and energetic part time online high school science teacher to join our Summit Family! The online high school science teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned virtual science instruction that promotes academic achievement, scientific inquiry, and critical thinking. This part-time (20 hours per week) position instructs three high school science courses through an online learning platform while fostering a supportive and interactive virtual classroom environment.

Responsibilities include delivering high-quality, standards-aligned online instruction for three high school science courses through the school's virtual learning platform, developing and implementing engaging lesson plans that promote scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, facilitating synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences that actively engage students in the virtual classroom, assessing student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, laboratory activities (as applicable), and other instructional assessments, monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate academic records, and providing timely feedback to students, differentiating instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles, abilities, and individual student needs, fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive online learning environment that promotes student engagement and academic success, communicating regularly with students, parents, and school staff regarding student progress, attendance, and academic performance, utilizing instructional technology and digital learning tools to enhance student learning and participation, participating in Individualized Education Program (IEP), Section 504, and other student support meetings as required, collaborating with colleagues to align curriculum, share instructional best practices, and support school initiatives, participating in required staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as assigned, maintaining compliance with school policies, state requirements, and applicable online learning expectations, and regular and predictable attendance.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in science, science education, or a related field, master's degree is a plus, valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate required, valid Michigan integrated science endorsement required, previous experience teaching high school science in a classroom or virtual learning environment preferred, strong knowledge of high school science curriculum, instructional best practices, and student assessment, experience utilizing online learning platforms and educational technology preferred, excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, ability to engage and motivate students in a virtual learning environment while fostering meaningful student relationships, and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families to support student success.
