Legal Advocate & Data Management Coordinator July 27, 2026 New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI), a community-driven civil rights organization, seeks a full-time Legal Advocate and Data Management Coordinator. About the Role The Legal Advocate and Data Management Coordinator will provide support to NYLPI’s legal work and coordinate the organization’s data management. Approximately 70% of their time will be spent performing paralegal and other advocacy work and assisting with coordination of NYLPI’s program work. The remainder of their time will be spent on data management, including NYLPI’s case management and data collection systems, and providing support as needed to NYLPI’s administration team. Legal Advocate core duties include: Helpwith the preparationof legal documents. Assistwith research, testimonies, and memos in support of NYLPI’s program work. Participate inpreparations for court appearances, depositions, and mediations. Support client workby joiningmeetings,gathering information, and handlinglogistics. Support the coordination of NYLPI’s work across program areas. HelpmaintainSharePoint files, including dockets. Providetechnicalassistance, including proofreading, formatting, and creation of spreadsheets, tables, and graphics. Assistwith the preparation and tracking ofrecordrequests. Lead implementation of NYLPI’s Language Access Policy, including onboarding and training staff and interns. Attend and support in-person events. Data Management Coordinator core duties include: Train staff on case management and data collection systemsand provide ongoing support and consultation. Compiledatareportsfor internal tracking, external reporting, and fundraising. ManageNYLPI’stimekeepingsystems forbillablelitigationmatters and lobbying. Partner with key staff to implement improvements in ourprogrammatic workflow,data collection practices, and compliance systems. Partner with other staff members and supervisors to ensure that NYLPI’s systems collect robust information on NYLPI activities and outcomes. Administrative Team Support includes: Coverage, as-needed, of phones, intake, mail, data entry, and in-office support.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Commitment to supporting NYLPI’s mission and work in a role that crosses program areas and demands flexibility and attention to detail. Experience providing legal and/or administrative support. Experience in project and time management and have organizational skills. Excellent analytical and writing skills. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite, including Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Copilot. Experience working with databases and data systems, and case management programs, and facilitating colleagues’ work with those systems. Ability to learn new technology tools and platforms. Ability to relate to and work in meaningful collaboration with a diverse range of clients, community partners, and staff. Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Preferred Experience analyzing data within Microsoft Excel, or other software, and running reports with case management systems. Experience compiling documents, for example organizing physical documents for mailing and using PDF editing software for electronic conveyance. Experience working with nonprofits and individual clients. Experience working with GIS mapping. Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred. Salary and Benefits NYLPI offers a competitive salary based on years of relevant experience. A person in this role with zero to three years of experience would earn $64,000 to $72,000. NYLPI also offers funds for professional development. NYLPI is a hybrid workplace. This position requires full in-office days Monday through Thursday. Fridays may generally be worked remotely, but in-person presence may be required periodically. Hybrid workplace requirements may change.
