PACU Registered Nurse - Per Diem

Position Purpose At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center. Employment Type Part time Shift Rotating Shift Responsibilities Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries. Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. Valid RN license in Connecticut. Ideal candidates will have 2 or more years of experience in the Inpatient PACU nursing, with a detailed history of expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s in Nursing. BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC). ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire). Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines. Important Consideration This role is not designed for new graduates or those seeking training for the Main PACU requirements. Candidates must be able to function independently in the PACU.
