MRI Technologist

Under the direction of the Radiologist, anatomically positions the patient and performs imaging procedures utilizing Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes. After reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patients abilities and condition, selects the most appropriate patient care plan. Selects appropriate shielding devices and appropriate immobilization devices. Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media. Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient patient preparation. Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested. Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate. Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts, from the patient and from the medical record, which may impact the examination. Monitors patient and equipment during procedures, accurately documents exam times (start and stop), patient reactions or problems, and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor.
