Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Tailor / Seamstress who is highly skilled in both men's and women's alterations, tailoring, sewing, garment construction, and repair.

The ideal candidate is confident working independently, understands garment construction and fit, and can produce clean, professional results efficiently. You should be able to evaluate a garment, identify the necessary alteration, and determine the best method to achieve an excellent fit and finish.

Senior-level candidates should expect a practical sewing and tailoring skills test.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform advanced alterations on men's and women's clothing.
• Tailor suits, jackets, blazers, trousers, shirts, dresses, skirts, coats, formalwear, and specialty garments.
• Perform complex jacket alterations, including sleeves, shoulders, sides, backs, collars, lining, and garment length.
• Perform advanced women's alterations, including bust, waist, hip, bodice, sleeve, neckline, and garment reshaping.
• Work with bridal gowns, eveningwear, luxury garments, and delicate fabrics when required.
• Perform garment repairs, reconstruction, relining, zipper replacement, closures, pockets, cuffs, waistbands, and other structural repairs.
• Take accurate measurements and perform professional fittings.
• Understand garment balance, body proportions, fabric behavior, and proper alteration techniques.
• Operate industrial sewing machines, sergers, blind-hemmers, and professional pressing equipment.
• Work confidently with fabrics including wool, linen, silk, satin, chiffon, lace, stretch fabrics, denim, leather, suede, and other specialty materials.
• Maintain clean, precise stitching and professional factory-quality finishes.
• Identify and solve difficult sewing, fitting, and construction problems.
• Manage multiple garments while maintaining quality and reasonable production times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of professional tailoring, alterations, or advanced sewing experience preferred.
• Strong experience with men's and/or women's tailoring.
• Advanced knowledge of garment construction and alteration techniques.
• Professional industrial sewing-machine experience.
• Strong fitting and measurement skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and hand-sewing ability.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• English communication required; Spanish/English bilingual ability is a plus.
