Registered Nurse- Various Shifts Available Pioneer Medical Center is a 25-bed critical access hospital, essentially the county hospital for Sweet Grass County, Montana: Population 3700. We are in a beautiful valley along the Yellowstone River, between three mountain ranges, just north of Yellowstone National Park. We serve our neighbors (ranchers, skilled trades people and active retirees) and the many tourists who come here on their way to Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, or to fish the Yellowstone, hike, bike, hunt or just get away from overcrowded places. Big Timber is a vibrant and welcoming small town, an hour from Bozeman and Billings. Our schools are highly rated, with high community support. PURPOSE/DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Under general supervision, utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation, and theoretical/clinical skills in the promotion/maintenance of health. Incorporates evidence-based nursing practices consistent with national standards and which support quality outcomes. Assumes responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care. Directs the plan of care while maintaining professionalism. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Supports and models behaviors consistent with Pioneer Medical Center’s mission, vision, values, code of business conduct and service expectations. Meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency standards as it relates to the environment, employee, patient safety or job performance. Utilizing a holistic approach and evidence-based nursing practices, incorporates the nursing process into the goal-directed plan of care for the patient. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary care team to execute a plan of care appropriate to the needs of the patients. Ensures complete, accurate and timely entry into patient medical record as indicated by patient condition and documentation guidelines, consistent with departmental policies and procedures. Adheres to facility’s safety standards, policies and practices. Anticipates and identifies problems and safety issues, then initiates appropriate action. Maintains appropriate skill/knowledge and application of relevant and commonly used equipment specific to area, pharmacology and laboratory values based on disease process or physiological status. Utilizes evidence-based practice, supported by nursing research, within specialty area. Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient care. Takes responsibility for own professional growth and development needs; meets all system/departmental educational requirements. Demonstrates collaborative, supportive, and caring behaviors in communication with patient’s families, visitors, and the interdisciplinary care team. Consideration is given to the appropriateness of care based on the population specific needs of the patient. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. Delegate assignments and tasks to CNA with supervision to ensure patient care is completed according to PMC Policy. Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental, and outside agency safety standards as it relates to the environment, employee, and patient/resident safety. Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development. Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Common policies and procedures, both organizational and departmental Compliance Program Code of Conduct Regulatory standards (i.e., State Survey, OSHA) HIPAA and confidentiality requirements Patient safety standards Computers and electronic applications Nursing practices, planning and assessment within scope of practice American Nurse Association (ANA) Code of Ethics MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred Healthcare Provider CPR Certification, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or CALS required Current Montana state license as a Registered Nurse required Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered WORKING CONDITIONS Normal patient care environment in Critical Access Hospital Blood Borne Pathogen Category: Category I : Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. Blood Borne Pathogen Category: Category II : Tasks that may involve occasional exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues, but are not a part of the routine job description.
