Payroll Clerk

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Ability to use a computer for data entry and management
• Ability to operate standard office equipment and to use office-based software applications
• Ability to communicate, effectively, in person and on the telephone with other employees and the public

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years' experience in payroll and/or bookkeeping
• Experience in the use of B+ (or related financial) software

Performance Responsibilities

1. Receives and verifies accuracy of submitted payroll (time) sheets
2. Prepares maintenance changes to employees' deductions.
3. Inputs the maintenance on the computer and checks it for errors and makes corrections.
4. Uploads time-sheet file for each payroll.
5. Checks totals of input and the payroll edit for errors and makes corrections.
6. Calculates retroactive pay on each employee.
7. Sorts and distributes district payroll checks.
8. Maintains effective filing system.
9. Answers inquiries pertaining to payrolls.
10. Mails outgoing payroll materials in a timely manner.
11. Audits, annually, pay, additional hours, insurance, and leaves.
12. Maintains effective working relationships with other employees.
13. Performs other job-related functions as may be assigned
