Job Title: Test Engineer Job Description

The Test Engineer designs and implements comprehensive tests to ensure the quality, reliability, and functionality of complex products, with a strong focus on electrical and battery systems. This role participates in all phases of the testing lifecyclefrom defining test parameters and executing environmental and electrical tests, to troubleshooting issues and documenting final test procedures. The Test Engineer creates clear, thorough quality-check processes that validate product performance against manufacturing, military, and engineering standards, while regularly presenting test results and recommendations to internal teams and external customers.

• Design and implement test parameters and procedures that ensure the quality, reliability, and functionality of electrical and battery-based products.
• Develop and write detailed test procedures, test plans, and technical documents, including those required for military-related operations, using tools such as Diadel or Python.
• Execute a variety of tests, including vibration, shock, humidity, and temperature testing, to validate product performance under environmental and operational stresses.
• Conduct electrical testing of products and components, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and applicable standards.
• Collect, analyze, and graph test data to clearly illustrate product behavior and performance trends.
• Prepare and present test plans, procedures, and results to customers and stakeholders, typically multiple times per week, in a clear and professional manner.
• Troubleshoot test failures and product issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions or design improvements.
• Apply extensive knowledge of engineering and testing procedures to continuously improve test methodologies and quality-check processes.
• Use testing tools such as Apache, Selenium, JMeter, TestStand, or LabVIEW where applicable to support automated or specialized test activities.
• Utilize diagramming and design software, including Gliffy and AutoCAD, to create or interpret schematics, diagrams, and test-related documentation.
• Manage test-related projects, including planning activities, coordinating resources, and tracking progress to meet deadlines and quality expectations.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports that clearly describe test setups, methodologies, results, and conclusions.
• Ensure test activities align with relevant military standards, such as MIL-STD-810, particularly for aerospace and defense applications.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure test coverage supports product design requirements and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain and properly use test equipment and tools, ensuring accurate measurements and reliable test execution.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or computer engineering.
• Previous work experience as a Test Engineer, with hands-on responsibility for designing and executing test procedures.
• 47 years of manufacturing or electrical testing experience, including work with environmental and functional testing of products.
• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, data handling, or test automation.
• Experience with electrical engineering principles and electrical testing of products and systems.
• Practical experience conducting environmental tests such as temperature, humidity, vibration, and shock.
• Experience with battery testing and validation of battery performance and reliability.
• Familiarity with testing tools such as Apache, Selenium, JMeter, TestStand, or LabVIEW.
• Knowledge of diagramming and engineering software, including Gliffy and AutoCAD.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering and testing procedures, including test planning, execution, and documentation.
• High-level technical writing skills for creating test plans, procedures, and detailed reports.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to interpret test data and solve complex technical problems.
• Ability to manage projects effectively, including organizing test activities and meeting deadlines.
• Confidence and clarity in presenting technical information and test results to clients and stakeholders.
• Experience working with military standards, particularly MIL-STD-810, in aerospace and defense contexts.

• Experience in aerospace and defense (A&D) environments or projects.
• Direct battery industry experience, including testing, validation, or qualification of battery products.
• Familiarity with military operational requirements and documentation practices.
• Ability to design simple yet thorough quality-check procedures that ensure peak product performance.
• Comfort working with test equipment and instrumentation used in electrical and environmental testing.
• Strong attention to detail when defining test parameters, monitoring tests, and documenting results.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

The Test Engineer works in a mixed office and laboratory environment that supports both engineering analysis and hands-on testing. The role involves regular use of electrical test equipment, environmental chambers, and instrumentation to conduct vibration, shock, humidity, and temperature tests on products, including battery systems. Work typically follows standard business hours, with flexibility to align test schedules and customer presentations as needed. The environment emphasizes precision, safety, and adherence to engineering and military standards such as MIL-STD-810. Collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams is common, and the role includes frequent preparation and delivery of technical presentations to customers. Professional attire is expected in customer-facing and office settings, with appropriate technical or safety gear worn in laboratory and test areas as required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cockeysville, MD.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
