Job Details Job Location: Barrington, IL 60010 Position Type: Part Time Education Level: High School Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Category: Dance/Cheer/Poms Position Summary The position of Dance Instructor is a part‑time position. The Dance Instructor is under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and is responsible for planning and teaching a developmentally appropriate class for students of various ages in a variety of dance techniques. Essential Functions Shall ensure program activities are conducted safely and conducted according to all safety guidelines Organize class and ensure that the program is of high quality, efficiency and safety at all times. Work is performed at a self-controlled pace, but may vary depending on the demands of the job required. Develop and prepare a plan of activities suited for children Develop, plan and implement spring recital and holiday dance show annually Be vocal while explaining activities Organize and supervise specific activities for the skill that is being taught Deliver quality customer service at all times. Remembering to keep information confidential Accident, incident reports must be turned in the day the accident occurred. Any major accidents must be reported to the Recreation Supervisor immediately Shall keep the Recreation Supervisor informed of any changes or problems that may arise in the class meeting. Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the District's safety program Take attendance for each class Collect program evaluations when necessary Maintain an organized session Shall perform other work as is assigned by the Recreation Supervisor and/or the Superintendent of Recreation Prevent accidents through enforcement of policies, rules, regulations and ordinances governing the conduct of children during programs Attend all required staff meetings with Recreation Supervisors as well as other staff Safety and Risk Management Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan Attend professional educational and safety trainings Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor Qualifications Degree in Dance Education or related field preferred Minimum 2 - 3 years teaching experience Minimum 8 years of dance experience High School Diploma Required Complete knowledge of a variety of dance techniques Ability to teach in any given class situation Certified in Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED within 3 months of hire Physical Requirements Regularly required to talk, hear or read Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds; and over 30 pounds with assistance Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception Psychological Considerations Employee should be able to maintain a positive working relationship with other employees Possess the ability to work well with the general public, parents, peers and park district employees Employee must work effectively under deadlines in a variety of environments and elements.
