Lead Application Engineer - Imperial

Salary: $92,800 - 154,700 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• We look for at least 5 years of technical experience with a major power conversion OEM, specifically on large water-cooled Variable Frequency Drive systems above 10MW and complex industrial or oil and gas applications.
• We need willingness to travel domestically and internationally as business needs require, up to 30% of the time.
• A masters degree in Power Electronics Engineering is preferred, though not mandatory for candidates with the right technical background.
• We value a strong record of collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• We seek well-developed business acumen across commercial, technical, and program execution areas.
• We prefer knowledge of power conversion solutions across multiple industries.
• Strong time management, coordination, and influencing abilities are important.

• Familiarity with customer financial drivers and requirements is an advantage.
• Experience using analytical software and sales tools such as CMS and Excel is beneficial.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

• We develop technical solutions for our Power Conversion General Industrial and Oil & Gas portfolio, including large MV VFD systems up to 80MW, large Static Frequency Converters of 100MVA+, large STATCOMs of 100MVAr+, and integrated eBOP equipment.
• We review customer RFPs, create risk-mitigated technical proposals, and align the solution with the customer for approval.
• We perform sizing calculations for MV VFD, SFC, STATCOM, and converter transformers based on application needs.
• We prepare detailed RFQ specifications for equipment such as drives, motors, converter transformers, E-Houses, MV switchgear, and related eBOPs.
• We evaluate bids and quotations, provide technical alignment where needed, and support costing activities with sourcing partners.
• We work with engineering and project teams to identify technical and delivery risks, build mitigation plans, and secure approval from the Chief Engineers office.
• We position our technical solutions with customers in sectors such as test systems, mining, metals, power, and oil and gas, while supporting meetings with product differentiators.
• We support the commercial risk process and the full Inquiry-to-Order workflow.
• We collaborate with third-party industrial partners to open growth opportunities and create mutually beneficial technology solutions.
• We optimize designs through Design-to-Cost methods to improve sold margins for the business.
