The Story
•    The Setup: Military recruiters from the Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines visit a high school to talk to students. [1, 2]
•    The Pitch: The Air Force, Army, and Navy recruiters each stand up in turn with PowerPoint presentations, trying to "sell" the students on why their respective branch is the best. [1]
•    The Marine Approach: The Marine recruiter steps up with no PowerPoint and no sales pitch. He walks to the edge of the stage and looks at the room of students. [1]
•    The Challenge: He tells them, "Nope. I don't think any of you are good enough to be in the Marine Corps." He explains that it is the hardest thing they will ever do, challenging them physically and emotionally. He finishes by saying, "If you think I'm wrong, I'll be at the back of the room". [1]
The Lesson

Who we are:
a small, hazard tree removal company in South Snohomish and Northeast King County. Our goal is to help homeowners feel safe in their homes by removing hazard trees and properly maintaining healthy trees. We strive to help the homeowner feel heard and valued. We make an effort to leave every yard better than we found it and believe that every day is an opportunity to help others feel important. While tree work is physical and demanding we seek to work hard, and we believe that attitude is a choice…We choose to be happy as often as possible. As a company we value our employees and want to provide them with a healthy work life balance that allows their body time to recoup. 

Our crew MUST be willing to follow OSHA guidelines. Unsafe work will be grounds for firing. Safety is everyone’s job! Each crew member is expected to be willing to use a chipper, chainsaws, and other heavy equipment which can be deadly machinery. To ensure the safety of the entire team employees are expected to come to work clean and sober. We may require periodic drug testing as a term of employment and we will require a Background check. Additionally, each team member is expected to have appropriate safety apparel (Helmet, Eye protection, Gloves, Boots, Chainsaw pants, Gloves, etc.). Each team member is expected to come to work with their helmet charged and ready for the work day.

Hazard tree removal often takes place where people of all ages are able to watch and hear us work. As a Timber Tiger it is expected that each employee will treat all people with respect in our actions and our speech. As such we agree to refrain from vulgar speech including but not limited to swearing. To help foster a culture of character and integrity it is expected that our conversations will be positive and encouraging to help inspire others to be the best version of themselves. 

Additionally, there is an expectation that our crew will be willing to participate in various training days including arborist courses and high ropes training.

This job is very physically demanding:
•    Hardworking (Enjoys physically demanding work)
•    Capable/willing to lift/haul40-80lbs continually
•    Willing to work in the elements (rain, snow, sun)
•    Willing to rake and clean yards

Team members are expected to be growing in proficieny with:
•    Chainsaws
•    Chippers
•    Tractors
•    Heavy machinery
•    Backing up trailers
