Argo and Farm Family partner with agents and brokers to provide insurance solutions that enable businesses to manage risks with confidence.Job DescriptionSummary:The main purpose of the Lead Capital Actuary is to lead the regulatory and rating agency capital models for Clearbrook and support the CRO with all aspects related to capital management strategy. Active collaboration, and regular communication with key stakeholders and business partners across finance, actuarial, ceded, risk management and other functions is an important part of this role. We are looking for a candidate to work from our Omaha, NE office. Alternatively, we are open to filling this role in our Albany, NY, New York, NY, or Chicago, IL office as well.This is a 100% in-office position. Candidates must be able to work on-site at a designated company office during standard business hours.Essential Responsibilities:Develop and refine the capital, liquidity, and dividend strategy, working with CRO, CFO, and the CEOBuild out a real-time view of capital position and a forecasted view aligned with business plansDesign and implement a framework to maximize capital efficiency and fungibility across the organizationEmbed capital metrics and modelling into strategic management decision-makingOwn the operation and delivery of the function’s objectivesFurther establish and develop a model to support portfolio optimization and underwriting strategyProvide timely and accurate capital metrics to senior management, regulatory bodies and rating agenciesImprove model governance including documentation and processesLead the production of a capital dashboard on a quarterly basis that provides a clear view of the solvency position of the group across regulatory and rating agency modelsWork closely with CRO and ERM function to support risk management activities, including designing, building and operating stress and scenario modelling tools to assist with the ORSAManagement of end-to-end projectsAbility to build processes and help shape developing projectsAbility to influence and communicate effectivelyIntegral part of the current design and future development of capital strategyQualifications / Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial, Finance or ScienceQualified actuary8+ years of experience requiredExperience in leading or working on all areas of a capital function including modelling, analysis, and communicating resultsKnowledge of factor-based models, especially US RBC and BCARStrong interpersonal and stakeholder management skillsHigh degree of numeracy - ability to analyse data and make sound expert judgementsAbility to work with limited resources to reach successful outcomesExcellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills and strong organizational skillsProject management and planning skillsAbility to mentor and develop othersExcellent communication skillsAbility to articulate position and obtain buy-in from different functionsPreferred Qualifications/Experience:Understanding of different accounting standards – US GAAP, US STAT, Economic, etcExposure to NAIC Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) regulations and practicesKnowledge of CAT models and asset modelsThe base salary range provided below is for hires in those geographic areas only and will be commensurate with candidate experience. Pay ranges for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
