We are looking for a Cost Accountant to join a manufacturing organization in Houston, Texas. This position plays an important role in evaluating production costs, maintaining accurate inventory reporting, and supporting timely financial close activities. The role works closely with operations and supply chain partners to improve margin visibility, strengthen reporting accuracy, and contribute to ongoing process enhancements.

Responsibilities:

• Examine production spending, inventory movement, and cost fluctuations to highlight trends and support informed business decisions.

• Contribute to monthly and year-end accounting activities by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and helping ensure accurate financial results.

• Maintain inventory costing records, review valuation accuracy, and assist with cycle counts as well as full physical inventory procedures.

• Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to provide insight into manufacturing performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.

• Support planning activities by assisting with budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis related to plant and product costs.

• Recommend improvements to accounting workflows and help reinforce internal controls across cost and inventory processes.

• Use ERP data and reporting tools to monitor standard costs, work-in-process balances, and variance activity within the manufacturing environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.

• At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting.

• Hands-on knowledge of inventory accounting, standard costing, and variance analysis.

• Proficiency in Excel with the ability to analyze data and build meaningful financial reports.

• Experience working with ERP systems, including required familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP.

• Understanding of work-in-process accounting and manufacturing cost structures.

• Ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate financial insights clearly.
