2nd Shift Metal Fabrication Production SupervisorThe 2nd Shift Metal Fabrication Production Supervisor (Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–12:00 AM) is responsible for leading daily operations within the metal fabrication department to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely production of high-quality fabricated components. This position provides direct leadership to fabrication employees involved in laser cutting, punching, forming, machining, welding preparation, and other fabrication processes while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.The Production Supervisor works closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, and Supply Chain to meet customer requirements while driving productivity, quality, on-time delivery, and employee engagement.Essential ResponsibilitiesSupervise, coach, and develop fabrication employees to achieve daily production goals.Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure production schedules and customer delivery commitments are met.Oversee fabrication operations including laser cutting, CNC punching, press brake forming, hardware insertion, machining, and other metal fabrication processes.Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices.Ensure fabricated parts meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company quality standards.Monitor labor efficiency, machine utilization, productivity, scrap, rework, and downtime while implementing corrective actions as needed.Train and mentor employees on fabrication processes, equipment operation, quality requirements, safety procedures, and standardized work instructions.Conduct daily shift meetings to communicate production goals, safety topics, quality concerns, and continuous improvement initiatives.Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Materials, and Programming to resolve production issues and minimize downtime.Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective and preventive actions.Promote Lean Manufacturing principles by identifying waste, improving workflow, reducing setup times, and maintaining workplace organization through 5S.Monitor attendance, performance, and employee development while conducting coaching conversations and performance evaluations.Ensure accurate production reporting within the ERP system and maintain departmental documentation.Support production scheduling, manpower planning, and cross-training initiatives to maximize operational efficiency.Assist with new product introductions, engineering changes, tooling implementation, and continuous process improvements.Perform other supervisory duties as assigned.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required.Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience in metal fabrication.At least three (3) years of supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.Strong understanding of fabrication processes including laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, machining, and welding support operations.Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, production scheduling, and workflow management.Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and safe manufacturing practices.Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.Experience using ERP or manufacturing software systems.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Preferred QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field.Experience supervising a sheet metal fabrication department.Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.Experience with CNC fabrication equipment and production planning.Forklift certification or willingness to become certified.Required Skills & CompetenciesStrong leadership and employee development skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesThorough understanding of sheet metal fabrication processesProduction planning and workflow coordinationRoot cause analysis and problem-solvingQuality assurance and inspection awarenessSafety leadership and regulatory complianceLean Manufacturing and continuous improvement mindsetTime management and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentERP and production reporting proficiencyAbility to build positive working relationships across departmentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.Frequently lift, push, pull, or move materials weighing up to 40 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb as required.Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and moving equipment.Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–12:00 AM
