Overview Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC), established in 1971, offers a full continuum of evidence based behavioral health and addiction services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors throughout New Jersey. UBHC's 1,060 experienced behavioral health professionals and support staff are dedicated to treatment, prevention, and education. UBHC, one of the largest providers of behavioral health care in the country, has a budget of $260 million and has 15 sites throughout New Jersey. Services are readily accessible and include: inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, screening, crisis stabilization, family/caregiver support, community outreach and case management, supportive housing, supported employment, prevention and consultation, employee assistance programs, and a licensed therapeutic school from preschool through high school. Specialty services include the New Jersey suicide prevention helpline and peer help lines for police, veterans, active military, teachers, mothers of special needs children and child protective service workers. Collaborates with the clinical and administrative leadership of the program offering comprehensive mental health care to patients and their families. Primarily responsible for providing patient care, leadership, training, and supervision to MHS II, MHS III and MHS IV, Activity Assistants II–IV. Participates in personnel matters relating to Mental Health Specialists/Activity Assistants according to Unit standards. Coordinates functions of Specialists in Unit according to established policies and procedures. Interacts with patients in a therapeutic manner according to their developmental level. Provides appropriate management interventions in an effective and therapeutic manner. Observes patients' interpersonal behavior indicating knowledge of behavioral norms of each adolescent's developmental level and participation and interest in their environment in accordance with established policies. Plans and implements appropriate therapeutic activity groups. Provides guidance/direction to staff and others regarding policies and procedures and regarding patient management skills and practices as indicated by coworkers' reports. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a relevant mental health, social, or human services field plus one (1) year of full-time related experience (part-time and/or per diem experience may be substituted for the full-time equivalent). Equivalent education, experience, and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement. Certifications/Licenses Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
