About the Position

Job Title: ICU RN Traveler Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience, with at least 1 year in an ICU License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Must-Have: - 36 months RN experience - One previous successful travel nursing assignment in a facility using similar documentation systems - Ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients, comfort in managing patients on ventilators - Proficient in reading telemetry strips Description: Traveler will be scheduled in accordance with facility policy. Traveler is expected to work every other weekend and holidays in rotation with hospital employees. Unit specifics include 28 mixed ICU beds with patient ratios of 1:2 and 1:3, holding inpatient PCU/med surg admissions. Unit staffing consists of RNs. Equipment includes mobile phones for care team members and mobile computer workstations. Documentation system is Meditech. Scheduling requires 3 - 12 hour shifts per week, including every other weekend. Floating policy indicates that travelers are the first to float, with potential assignments to emergency department or PCU for care of PCU or ICU holds. Patient experience involves bedside shift report as the method of patient handoff. Advanced skills required include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, and phlebotomy. Nurses administer respiratory treatments outside of the ICU including inhalers and nebulizers. Procedures performed include post-op CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and advanced hemodynamics. Experience with neuro procedures for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage, EVDs, and hypothermia management is preferred. BSN and advanced certifications are preferred, along with TNCC certification.
