Clearance Requirement Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and may meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required. License/Certification Requirement Candidates who have already passed the NITC Journey‑Level HVAC Exam are preferred; however, the ability to pass the exam within one year of hire is required. Current EPA 608 certification preferred; otherwise, the candidate must obtain one within 90 days of hire. Responsibilities A Mechanical Critical Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the complex mechanical systems in data centers, hospitals, and manufacturing plants. This role requires a strong background in HVAC and other mechanical equipment, along with mission‑critical experience and relevant certifications. Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, including chillers, boilers, CRAC/CRAH units, and air handling units. Installation, maintenance, and repair of minor plumbing systems, including pumps, valves, and piping. Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems for troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment. Knowledge of BMS platforms such as Niagara Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls for monitoring and controlling environmental systems. Ability to read and interpret mechanical, plumbing, and electrical diagrams to perform maintenance and repairs. Proficiency with CMMS software for tracking and documenting work orders, repairs, and maintenance activities. Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or greater. Six or more years of work experience, including at least three years of direct experience in a critical facility operation, such as a data center or hospital. Subject to a government security investigation with required U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Mechanical experience with chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or other significant mechanical equipment. Pass the NITC Journey‑Level HVAC exam within the first year of employment. Must possess an EPA 608 certification. Abilities Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, demonstrating physical strength and stamina for tasks such as loading, unloading, operating equipment, and transporting materials, while following proper lifting techniques and safety protocols. Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance. Work at heights up to 60 feet, including ascending and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders. Perform routine physical movements such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead. Possess adequate vision (corrected vision permitted) and hearing, and communicate in English. Use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; does not involve solving the problem, only identifying potential issues. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce sound solutions. Integrate information from multiple sources to form general rules or conclusions, including identifying relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
