About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Float across ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg units based on staffing needs, which are re-evaluated every four hours; traveler may float up to two to three times per shift
• Provide skilled nursing care including IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, central line care, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Manage trach care, non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP), ventilator management, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Perform cardiac monitoring and administer continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Document all patient care using EPIC (required)
• Meet weekend and holiday requirements: every other weekend or six weekend shifts per six-week block; expected to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment

• Active Virginia state RN license or valid Compact RN license required; pending license considered only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Minimum two years of ICU experience in a large Level I or Level II facility
• Comfortable working all three specialty areas: ICU, PCU, and Med-Surg, with experience managing ratios of at least 1:5
• Proficiency in EPIC electronic health record system
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted; candidates residing 50-99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

• Prior travel nursing experience, though first-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Experience managing higher-acuity ratios, including Med-Surg ratios up to 7:1
• Familiarity with stroke care protocols and thrombectomy-capable stroke center environments
