Job Summary The AHW-funded Community and Cancer Science Network (CCSN) was established to address cancer in Wisconsin (WI), the second highest cause of mortality in our state. CCSN's initial charge was to address breast and lung cancer disparities. To effectively address a problem as multifactorial and interconnected as cancer disparities, an approach that engages various sectors with knowledge of the biology, behavior, and the socio-cultural and physical environments contributing to disparities is required. Phase 1: Co-learning and Planning The CCSN Collaborative Work Group Initiative brought together various sectors including researchers, community‑based organizations, and community members. The overarching goal was to use CCSN's transdisciplinary approach to develop solutions to breast and lung cancer disparities in four communities: Milwaukee (breast and lung), Racine (breast), Walworth (breast), and the Lac du Flambeau tribal area. Five community‑academic workgroups were established to participate in a facilitated collaboration and learning process guided by CCSN's theory of change, rooted in a four‑phase model of transdisciplinary team‑based research. Phase 2: Solutions and Implementation Guided by the socio‑ecological model, the three‑year Phase 2 transdisciplinary implementation focuses on multiple levels of impact in each community, including people, practice, and policy. The locally relevant and culturally grounded approaches will 1) increase awareness of cancer risks, prevention, and screening; 2) improve access to cancer prevention and early detection efforts; and 3) foster equitable systems. Phase 2 implementation will be led by experienced local teams and will reflect the transdisciplinary orientation and grounding established in Phase 1. To ensure progress, the Phase 2 implementation will be guided by an experienced leadership team led by faculty co‑PI Staci Young, PhD, and community co‑PI David Frazer. Role Overview This position provides guidance for program planning, implementation, and evaluation. It will plan and facilitate the Implementation Team through the Phase 2 work plans for work addressing breast cancer disparities in Racine and Milwaukee. The OPM will promote stable and productive relationships between the university and the community. Candidate Profile Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration: Excellent time management skills Ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders via various modes of communication Must provide a valid driver's license. Key Job Responsibilities Develops and implements operating policies and procedures to promote the outreach program in alignment with the strategic plan May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees Supervises the implementation of outreach‑program‑focused strategic planning initiatives and objectives Determines outreach program needs and the personnel resource allocation plan Reviews recommendations for and provides input on the design and development of new outreach programs or services Monitors the unit or program budget and approves program expenditures Compensation and Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 up to $70,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.
