About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Active Virginia State or Compact RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - EPIC charting experience - Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management - Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care - Experience with respiratory support, including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management Description: Position is for an RN in a neuro progressive care unit. Shifts are scheduled as 3 twelve-hour days from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Charting experience in EPIC is required. Weekend commitment may include every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week block. Requests for time off must be included with the submission. The facility allows for one shift cancellation every two weeks. RN must work one holiday during the 13-week contract. First-time travelers are accepted. Local candidates are accepted within specified radius criteria. Pending licenses are accepted if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Patient population includes adult patients with neurological conditions. Patient ratios are 1:4 to 1:5. Care includes neurosurgical recovery, stroke management, and neuro-specific diagnoses. Floating to other units within clinical skill set may be required. Traveler support includes various interdisciplinary teams and services. Key clinical skills include rapid response and isolation precautions. Must exhibit comfort with monitoring and managing dysrhythmias. Valid certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are mandatory. Traveler must demonstrate ability to manage cardiac drips without titration.
