Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) at Centralus Health Ambulance (CHT) play a vital role in advancing our mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate emergency medical care and transport services that strengthen the well-being of our communities. EMTs provide basic life support (BLS), patient assessment, emergency care, and safe transport under medical direction. EMTs may also assist with interfacility transports, community paramedicine initiatives, and disaster response operations as directed. Education / Experience Qualifications:

Required:

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience,
• Valid New York State Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification.
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification.
• Possess a NYS motor vehicle operator's license Class D or higher for at least the prior three years.
• Complete FEMA Independent Study Courses: IS- 5.a, IS-100.c, IS-200.c, IS-700.b, IS-800.d (or most recent versions)

Preferred:

• Experience in a hospital-based or system-integrated EMS agency.
• Associate's degree;
• Valid International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification;
• FEMA ICS-300 and ICS-400

3. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
4. Maintain a driver rating of Acceptable or higher, as outlined in the Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) guideline (203.01.01.01).
5. Maintain a Quality Assurance Status of Acceptable or Clear as outlined in the Quality Assurance (QA) Status guideline (203.01.01.01).
6. Must not have any pending criminal charges that, if convicted, would prohibit employment or membership in the organization, or otherwise compromise the integrity or image of Centralus Health Ambulance.
7. Training and Professional Readiness Requirements
8. Successfully complete an initial Member Training Program and probationary period.
9. Successfully engage in continual Member Training and Annual Requalification as outlined in the Member Training and Annual Requalification guideline (205.01.01.04) for the level of service being provided to the community.
10. Meet minimum hourly or shift requirements either on a monthly or quarterly basis as set forth by the Director of EMS (Chief).

12. Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, radio equipment, and in person.
13. Ability to interpret oral, written, and diagnostic form instructions accurately.
14. Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain calm in high-stress or emotionally charged situations.
15. Ability to read and comprehend English-language materials, including manuals, maps, and medical documentation.
16. Ability to accurately discern street signs, addresses, and environmental cues in varied conditions.
17. Ability to interview patients, family members, and bystanders to obtain relevant medical and situational information.
18. Ability to document all relevant information clearly and completely in the prescribed format, recognizing the legal significance of such records.
19. Ability to converse effectively in English with coworkers, dispatchers, and hospital personnel regarding patient status and care.
20. Physical Requirements
21. Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to one hundred twenty-five (125) pounds.
22. Possess good manual dexterity with the ability to perform all assigned tasks with precision and care.
23. Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, and maneuver safely on uneven terrain.
24. Ability to function efficiently throughout an entire operational period without undue fatigue or interruption.
25. Ability to work effectively in varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold, moisture, and low-light situations.
26. Ability to remain unaffected by loud noises, flashing lights, and other environmental stressors commonly encountered in emergency response settings.
27. Operational and Task Performance Requirements

31. Annually submit a completed physician-signed Health and Wellness Attestation and updated immunization record in compliance with Centralus Health policy.
