Position Summary

The EHS manager will be responsible for developing and implementing health and safety programs across the four subsidiaries of PBI Gordon Companies. The successful candidate will have a proactive mindset and focus on creating a strong safety culture, measured through Safety KPIs. This role has six direct reports and partners closely with leaders and employees across the business to create a safe, compliant, and positive work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Safety Leadership
• Provide strategic EHS leadership to support the four business subsidiaries.
• Lead the development and implementation of EHS plans to ensure consistent execution of enterprise-wide safety initiatives and strategic objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement of proactive safety culture initiatives that promote employee engagement and operational ownership.
• Ensure standardized EHS calendars, audits, inspections, and compliance activities are executed consistently across subsidiaries.
• Support site incident reviews and ensure thorough investigations identify systemic causes and sustainable corrective actions.
• Develop systems to improve EHS leading indicator performance, corrective action closure, and leadership accountability.
• Monitor EHS leading indicators to identify emerging trends and recommend proactive mitigation strategies.
• Team Effectiveness & Engagement
• Lead regular team meetings that encourage preparation, participation, problem solving, and shared ownership of safety objectives.
• Establish clear expectations, priorities, and performance standards for the EHS Team in line with PBI Gordon Companies strategy and objectives.
• Coach, mentor, and develop EHS Team to strengthen technical expertise, leadership capability, and business partnership skills.
• Fosters an environment where team members actively share knowledge, best practices, lessons learned and solutions across sites.
• Drives a culture of proactive risk identification by empowering team members to challenge the status quo, report concerns, and propose solutions.
• Partner with Sr. Director QHSE to build succession and capability plans to ensure long-term organizational strength and continuity within the safety function.
• Partnership, Preparation & Communication
• Partner with Plant Managers and Operations Leadership to ensure ownership and accountability for EHS performance.
• Coach plant leadership teams to build strong safety leadership behaviors and accountability.
• Build strong partnerships across operations, quality, human resources, and leadership teams to align safety initiatives with business objectives
• Lead the Safety capital program in partnership with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to implement sustainable risk reduction and engineered safety improvements.
• Maintain a strong presence through routine site visits, coaching, observations, and leadership engagement.
• Support implementation of standardized onboarding, contractor orientation, and recurring regulatory training programs.
• Promote the sharing of best practices and operational learning across all assigned facilities.
• Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and partners with stakeholders to assess potential business impacts.
• Support environmental initiatives including waste reduction, recycling, energy conservation, and sustainability projects.
• Perform additional duties assigned to support business objectives.
• Safety Responsibilities
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
• Participate in required safety training.
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents promptly.

Required Qualifications

• Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 7-10 years progressive EHS leadership experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, utilities, or industrial operations.
• Demonstrated experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities. Experience in GMP environment or facility, preferred.
• Skills & Abilities:
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience leading incident investigations utilizing root cause analysis methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to influence leaders without direct authority.
• Strong project management, organizational, and change management skills.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel 25% to four subsidiaries in USA and Ireland.
• Professional certification (ASP, CSP, CHMM, CIH, or similar).
