Law Clerk / Litigation Paralegal
Frederick & Tindula Law LLP — San Luis Obispo, California
Full-time, in-office | $35–$38 per hour, depending on experience

Frederick & Tindula Law LLP is seeking a litigation paralegal with at least  two years of California civil litigation experience to join our San Luis Obispo office.

We are a small law firm handling personal injury, Trust-Wills & Estates, real estate, business, landlord-tenant and other civil matters. You will work directly with both partners and have a meaningful role in preparing cases, managing deadlines and keeping clients informed.

We are looking for someone who produces accurate work, follows through on assignments and recognizes when a case needs attention. You do not need experience in every area of our practice, but you should have a solid foundation in California civil litigation and be comfortable managing assigned responsibilities with attorney direction and review.

Responsibilities

• Calendaring and case management: Track litigation deadlines, hearings, discovery and follow-up tasks; maintain organized electronic files and keep attorneys informed of upcoming obligations.
• Document preparation and filing: Prepare, format, proofread, electronically file and arrange service of pleadings, court forms, notices, declarations and correspondence under attorney supervision.
• Discovery and subpoenas: Assist with written discovery and responses, organize document productions, prepare subpoenas and coordinate depositions and records requests.
• Personal injury support: Obtain and organize medical records, bills and other evidence; assist with medical chronologies, damages summaries and demand packages.
• Hearing and trial preparation: Organize exhibits, documents and other materials for depositions, mediations, hearings and trial.
• Communication and office support: Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel and vendors; follow up on outstanding information and assist with routine administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• At least two years of Law Clerk or California civil litigation experience.
• Meets the qualifications to work as a paralegal under  California Business and Professions Code § 6450 .
• Hands-on experience with California court filing and service requirements, litigation calendaring and written discovery.
• Strong writing, proofreading and organizational skills, with close attention to deadlines and detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat or comparable PDF tools, and electronic document management.
• Ability to prioritize work across multiple matters, follow assignments through to completion and promptly raise questions or potential problems.
• Professional communication, sound judgment and respect for client confidentiality.

Experience with  personal injury, unlawful detainer/landlord-tenant, real estate or business litigation is helpful, but experience in every area is not required.

Compensation and Benefits

• $35–$38 per hour , based on relevant experience and demonstrated skills.
• medical, dental and vision plans , subject to plan eligibility and enrollment requirements.
• Paid vacation, paid sick leave and paid holidays under the firm’s policies.
• Hourly, nonexempt position with paid overtime when worked.
• Direct collaboration with both partners and substantive involvement in a varied civil litigation practice.

Schedule and Location

Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday , working in our San Luis Obispo office. Occasional overtime may be needed for litigation deadlines or trial preparation.
