Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience preferred License: Valid state nursing license required; pending licenses accepted Certifications: BLS and ACLS preferred Must-Have: Epic experience required Must be willing to float as needed within scope of practice Description: This position is for a 27-bed General Medicine Unit. Clinicians in this unit care for a variety of disease processes. The unit serves patients with conditions involving respiratory, endocrine, cardiac, immune/infectious disease, and renal systems. Candidates can work 36 or 48 hours per week. Every other weekend coverage is required. Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Can approve 40 hours for time off, but time off around holidays is not approved. The nurse will be involved in the management of patients with respiratory and renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, celluitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell, and cystic fibrosis. Nursing responsibilities include monitoring and managing telemetry, running nurse-driven protocols for insulin and heparin, and performing tracheostomy care and wound care. Interdisciplinary support is available from various teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The position requires adherence to infection control protocols and management of dysrhythmias. Specific skills needed include experience with PCA pumps, chest tubes, and management of IV insulin protocols. The average daily census is approximately 25 patients. Travel experience is required. Education: BSN preferred.
