Quality Control Manager

We are seeking a Quality Control Manager (or Senior Manager/Director-level depending on experience) to lead quality and food safety programs within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role will be responsible for ensuring product integrity, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all quality systems, while partnering closely with operations, R&D, and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Food Safety Leadership

• Lead and manage all quality and food safety programs at the facility and/or enterprise level
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, GFSI (BRC preferred), and regulatory standards
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customer, regulatory, and third-party audits
• Oversee food safety systems including allergen control, sanitation, pest control, and environmental monitoring
• Manage traceability programs, mock recalls, and crisis response efforts

Operational & Technical Excellence

• Partner with Manufacturing and R&D to ensure product consistency and successful product commercialization
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for quality issues and customer complaints
• Oversee laboratory operations including testing protocols, equipment calibration, and data integrity
• Establish and manage SPC programs, KPIs, and quality performance dashboards

Continuous Improvement & Strategy

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
• Monitor industry trends, regulatory updates, and emerging food safety risks
• Develop and execute long-term quality strategies aligned to organizational goals

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the quality liaison for key customers and external stakeholders
• Build strong relationships with customer technical teams to support satisfaction and growth
• Support crisis management activities related to quality or food safety

People Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing quality team
• Oversee training programs for GMP, food safety, and quality standards across the plant
• Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related Life Sciences field
• 8–12+ years of progressive leadership experience in quality/food safety

Strong knowledge of:

• HACCP, GMP, GFSI/BRC standards
• Food safety systems, sanitation, and laboratory operations
• Experience leading audits (customer, regulatory, and third-party)
• Familiarity with SPC and continuous improvement methodologies
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience managing crisis response and risk mitigation is highly preferred

The salary range for this position is $50.00 to $65.00 hr. Benefits available to contract professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
