Product Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Product Safety Engineer with a background in electrical engineering to ensure compliance and safety of products, particularly in medical devices or similar regulated industries. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience with IEC 60601, IEC 61010, and EMC/EMI testing, and have a strong background in NRTL (Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories) processes. You will be responsible for testing, validating, and certifying the safety of electrical and electronic products, ensuring they meet the necessary safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and coordinate product safety testing and evaluations in accordance with IEC 60601, IEC 61010, and other relevant standards.
• Perform EMC/EMI testing and analysis to ensure product compliance with safety and electromagnetic standards.
• Collaborate with NRTLs to certify products for safety standards and regulatory compliance.
• Analyze and assess potential risks in product design and manufacturing to ensure product safety throughout the lifecycle.
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot safety-related issues that arise during testing.
• Develop and maintain safety test plans, protocols, and reports.
• Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and ensure all products meet the latest safety standards and requirements.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and manufacturing, to ensure product safety is integrated into all stages of development.
• Provide technical leadership in safety-related design decisions and recommend design changes where necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience as a Product Safety Engineer or similar role
• Proven experience with IEC 60601 and IEC 61010 standards
• Experience in EMC/EMI testing and regulatory compliance
• Knowledge of working with NRTL certifications (e.g., UL, CSA, TUV)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in writing test plans and technical reports
