Direct Support Professional - Autism Care American Baptist Homes of the Midwest, located in Des Moines, Iowa, is a faith‑based nonprofit organization founded in 1974 that supports individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and traumatic brain injuries in group home settings across Minnesota. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Autism Care to join our team. Supportive Team: We value our caregivers as much as our clients Quick Hiring: Apply today and hear back within 48 hours What You’ll Do: Provide individualized, one‑on‑one care to a member with autism, supporting daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation. Assist with medical‑related care, including catheter placement, wound care, and basic health monitoring. Maintain a safe, clean, and respectful living environment. Monitor and report changes in behavior or health. Help with transportation to appointments or activities. Collaborate with healthcare staff and team members to deliver holistic care. What You’ll Need: Age 21 or older. Valid driver’s license and insurance. Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. At least one year of experience in a medical, caregiving, or healthcare setting preferred, but not required. Prior experience supporting individuals with autism preferred. Experience with catheter care and wound management is a big plus. Dependable, detail‑oriented, and compassionate mindset.
