Status: FTE Licensed clinician with reduced caseload

Position Summary

The Clinical Supervisor at Creative Spirit Counseling maintains a reduced clinical caseload while providing clinical supervision, consultation, and accountability for a team of clinicians. In alignment with Creative Spirit Counseling's mission and values, this role supports high-quality, ethical, and trauma-informed clinical care while fostering a respectful, collaborative, and growth-oriented workplace culture.

The Clinical Supervisor supports clinicians in carrying out the clinical vision and standards established by the Clinical Director. This position focuses on day-to-day clinical practice, professional development, documentation, and utilization, while escalating complex, high-risk, or ethical concerns to the Clinical Director for guidance and final decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities

Clinical Practice

• Maintain a reduced outpatient caseload, providing individual, family, and/or group therapy, including telehealth services as appropriate
• Utilize evaluation and assessment tools to identify clinical needs and monitor treatment progress

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using trauma-specific, evidence-based interventions.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate documentation of all services
• Know and adhere to all ethical guidelines, legal requirements, and standards set forth by the appropriate state licensing board

Clinical Supervision & Consultation

• Provide direct clinical supervision and consultation to assigned clinicians, provisionally licensed staff, and interns
• Support clinicians with case conceptualization, treatment planning, ethical decision-making, and clinical skill development
• Model reflective practice, trauma-informed care, and professional boundaries
• Identify emerging clinical concerns and address them through supervision, consultation, and corrective guidance when needed
• Escalate complex, high-risk, or ethically sensitive concerns to the Clinical Director with clinical context and recommendations

Clinical Oversight, Support & Accountability

• Monitor utilization, documentation timeliness, and adherence to clinical expectations
• Address overdue documentation and utilization concerns in a timely, supportive, and clear manner
• Conduct regular check-ins, goal-setting conversations, and performance-related discussions related to clinical practice
• Support clinician wellbeing while maintaining professional expectations and boundaries
• Review time-off requests and schedule changes in coordination with leadership
• Support onboarding and transition of new clinicians through mentorship and clinical consultation

Collaboration & Communication

• Communicate regularly with the Clinical Director regarding team strengths, needs, trends, and concerns
• Collaborate with leadership to support consistent implementation of clinical standards
• Coordinate with outside agencies when referring clients to community providers
• Participate in collaboration efforts with community agencies and professional partners
• Actively support a respectful, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture consistent with Creative Spirit Counseling values

Documentation, Compliance & Quality of Care

• Maintain accurate case files, documentation, and client data in accordance with agency policy and regulatory standards
• Support compliance with clinical documentation requirements and ethical standards
• Assist in identifying training needs or quality-improvement opportunities related to clinical care

Scope & Authority Clarification

The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical supervision, consultation, and support within the clinical framework established by the Clinical Director. This role does not hold final authority for legal, regulatory, or high-risk ethical matters. Issues involving subpoenas, court orders, licensing board complaints or inquiries, attorney requests, complex or contested records requests, or other matters with potential legal, ethical, or liability implications must be promptly escalated to the Clinical Director. The Clinical Supervisor may support clinicians in understanding procedures, documentation, and next steps related to these matters, while final determination and external communication remain the responsibility of the Clinical Director.

Additional Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical role model who reflects Creative Spirit Counseling's values in practice and leadership
• Provide informal mentorship and consultation to support clinician confidence and competence
• Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and clinical discussions
• Support implementation of clinical initiatives as directed by the Clinical Director
• Other duties as assigned, consistent with the scope of a clinical supervision role
