Registered Nurse - NICU (PRN)

Position Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, effective, and patient‑centered care in Mercy’s Level III NICU, a 24/7 multidisciplinary unit adjacent to the Mother/Baby Unit. The unit offers private suites to support family‑centered care and treats infants as early as 26 weeks gestation, employing therapies such as therapeutic hypothermia, high‑frequency ventilation, and iNO. The RN is responsible for maintaining patient rights, confidentiality, and alignment with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards. Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to deliver patient‑centered care and maintain professional accountability for assigned patients. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct caregivers. Coordinate patient care collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams. Ensure that patient rights and confidentiality are upheld in all duties. Qualifications Education: Graduated from an accredited nursing program (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN). Licensure: Possess a current RN license in the hiring state or under a nursing compact and meet all state board requirements. Experience: Experienced NICU RN. Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) – required; must be completed within 30 days of hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certified Pediatric/Hematology/Oncology Nurse (CPHON) Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) S.T.A.B.L.E. – Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support Fetal Monitor Certification (C‑EFM) Physical Requirements Push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Prolonged standing and walking during each shift. Grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
