Scrum Master

This is a contract position for an experienced Senior Scrum Master to lead Agile delivery teams in a complex, highly regulated environment based in Washington, Washington. The role is expected to last 6 months or longer and will focus on servant leadership, Agile coaching, and continuous improvement within a matrixed organizational structure. Responsibilities Facilitate Scrum ceremonies including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives. Coach Agile teams toward higher levels of maturity, accountability, and predictability. Identify, track, and remove team-level impediments while escalating organizational blockers when necessary. Partner with Product Owners, Agile Coaches, and leadership to align priorities and delivery goals. Promote psychological safety, collaboration, and healthy team dynamics. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using retrospective outcomes and team feedback. Protect teams from external disruptions and maintain focus on sprint commitments. Support Agile transformation efforts and adoption of organizational Agile standards and playbooks. Track and improve delivery metrics including velocity, predictability, and team performance. Qualifications Required 7+ years of hands-on Scrum Master experience supporting multiple Agile teams within complex matrixed organizations. Current Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM II or higher) certification. Demonstrated success building self-organizing teams and improving Agile delivery outcomes. Strong facilitation, coaching, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, and change management skills. Experience managing resistance to Agile adoption and guiding teams through cultural transformation. Ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams. Preferred Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), SAFe Scrum Master, or other advanced Agile certifications. Experience supporting Federal Government agencies or highly regulated industries.
