Employee Relations Director

We are conducting a search for a strategic and experienced Director of Employee Relations for our client here in the Triad (central NC). Reporting to the CHRO, the Director will lead initiatives that foster a productive, fair, and service-oriented work environment. In this role, you will act as a key advisor to leadership, manage sensitive personnel investigations, and implement best practices that align with their institutional objectives. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Partner with leadership to implement HR interventions, manage retention data, and drive organizational effectiveness. Employee Relations: Provide expert guidance on policies, performance improvement plans, and conduct thorough personnel-related investigations with objectivity and discretion. Consultation & Mediation: Serve as an internal consultant for managers; act as a mediator to resolve conflicts and enhance job satisfaction. Training & Development: Coordinate training initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the college community. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience, OR a Master’s degree in a related field with 5–7 years of progressive experience. Experience: Proven expertise in conducting investigations, guiding management through complex ER issues, and handling sensitive, confidential matters. Skills: Proficiency in HRIS platforms, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
