Job DescriptionHarborview Eye Institute has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Coordinator/Scheduler.WORK SCHEDULEFull-time, ( 40 hours weekly)Day Shift/ Mondays- FridaysTHIS IS A 6 MONTH ASSIGNMENT FROM DATE OF HIRENo Telework/On-sitePOSITION HIGHLIGHTSOnly Level I trauma and burn center in the regionClose proximity to public transportationHarborview ranks among the nation's top hospitals in rehabilitation care, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedicsDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONLocated two blocks from the main medical center in Harborview's Ninth & Jefferson Building on First Hill in Seattle, the UW Medicine Eye Institute offers cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care for common to complex conditions and disorders.Our staff provides comprehensive treatment for people with glaucoma, cataracts, diseases of the retina, cornea, orbit and nerves and age-related eye diseases. We also perform refractive procedures such as LASIK and oculofacial plastic surgery procedures.Eyes on James is our full-service optical shop in the Ninth & Jefferson building and offers eye exams, specialty glasses and contact lenses.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESTriage medical information in a specific medical or surgical specialtySchedule post-surgery diagnostic procedures and follow-up patient appointmentsAct as a liaison between patients, consulting physician, referring physician, or outside agency to coordinate patient appointments, admission, or surgery. Will coordinate the exchange of information either written or verbally before and after patients are seenCoordinate anesthesiaObtain all necessary medical records, diagnostic studies, pathology items, etc., that are needed for patient careAssist in scheduling new patient appointments by triaging to appropriate department and physicianEnter appointment information in online appointment systemCoordinate pre-admission tests and proceduresSchedule and ensure pre-anesthesia works-ups are completedCoordinate the direct transfer of patients from outside hospitals to UWMC with physicians, medical staff, and AdmittingOther assigned dutiesREQUIREMENTSHigh school graduation or equivalentAND two years of experience in the program specialtyOR equivalent education/experienceEquivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
