Senior Programmer Analyst

Banner Enterprise System Manager

This position participates in the day-to-day management and support of the College's Banner enterprise system.

Examples of Duties

Provides support for the Banner/Oracle databases (including development, training, preproduction and production instances), including data structures, upgrades and implementation of new versions. Performs diagnostic and troubleshooting activities on database systems. Resolves help desk tickets related to the ERP system and related interfaces. Analyzes programming problems and determines appropriate solutions; researches available tools and technologies to provide innovative solutions to application problems and utilizes computer applications such as PLSQL, UNIX shell scripting, Argos, Dynamic Forms, Etrieve and Automic (UC4/Appworx) Applications Manager to automate recurring departmental activities. Provides support for reporting and web application needs, works with end users to define reporting requirements, and creates or re-designs reports based on the reporting requirements. Provides ad hoc reporting upon request. Consults with users to gather information about current operating procedures, program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements. Consults with users to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs; and prepares specifications and user requirements. Develops test data and/or scripts to test programs and runs tests to find errors and confirm that programs meet specifications. Participates in logical database design; Participates in maintaining system standards based on industry best practices and College policies. Analyzes, designs, develops, tests, and implements new systems, applications programs, and enhancements. Develops flow charts, and writes, codes, debugs, and documents computer programs. Alters programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements. Writes and maintains technical and procedural documentation, including system diagrams and logic representations, to describe program development, logic, coding, specifications and corrections; and maintains training documentation for new procedures. Provides training to trainers. Coordinates with other programmers regarding program and report revisions. Modifies and maintains software programs written by others. Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs. Coordinates with college departments and outside entities such as regional data centers and software support providers for applications including Ellucian Banner, Cardinal-Ticketrak, Dynamic Forms, Etrieve, Evisions, ID Works, APEX, and Automic. Works with other IT staff to ensure interfaces are working properly and provides backup support to other members of the Information Support Team. Coordinates with the college's Senior Web Developer to assist in maintaining the back-end portion of the college's web site. This position will perform maintenance/bug fixes to the web site in a backup role to the Web Developer. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of experience in an appropriate area of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications

Higher Education experience specifically with the Ellucian Banner enterprise system, as well as Oracle databases; SQL; PL/SQL; APEX; UNIX shell scripting; PHP; technical writing skills, Argos or other Business Intelligence reporting tool.
